The idea behind the project “Abitare la città. La curiosità e il desiderio dei bambini e delle bambine per la cura della città” (“Living the city. Children’s curiosity and desire for the care of the city”) is to contribute to a greater awareness of the spaces inhabited on a daily basis, looking for the ‘extraordinary’ within the ordinary: home-school routes, aggregative spaces, and outdoor and indoor spaces within the schools. Starting with the sensorial and corporeal perceptions of places, we weave children’s desires and needs, and imagine together new transformations and innovative projects for the care of urban spaces. Their projects are to be presented at the Children’s Council, within the Councils of the city areas involved in the project, and at the City Council itself.

The project involves nine classes in the primary schools in Via Clericetti and Via Pini, Lambrate Area, and engages teachers, parents and citizens of the neighbourhood.

Abitare la città is a project by Caracol, Codici, Spaziopensiero, together with Hypereden.

The project was made possible thanks to the support of the Fondazione di Comunità Milano onlus, Grant 57.
